The Maritime Museum was established to document Hong Kong's Maritime History in an interesting and interactive way. The Museum is located at the Old Murray House Building in Stanley, Hong Kong.
The Reason
Museums around the world are known to be boring. Some of us have memories as children being dragged by our parents around a stuffy museum in their well intentioned attempt to educate us. The Maritime Museum wanted to be different. Their aim was to engage children in a medium they could understand whilst at the same time hoping to educate them.
The Solution
The Egg worked closely with the team of expert curators from the Museum to conceptualize and design 9 interactive games and kiosks to be played using touch screens and joy sticks. These included games to show how to "Sail a boat", how to "load containers onto a ship" and ever a surround screen simulator was developed allowing the child to steer around HK harbor and dock at Star Ferry Pier!
The Conclusion
The Museum was opened by Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang and received great reviews from the press. Large school trips visit the Museum each week and it continues to draw crowds at the weekend.
