Aviation Discovery Centre (ADC) – Interactive Games and Exhibits

Waiting for a plane has never been such fun!

The Client

Airport Authority Hong Kong is the managing company of Hong Kong International Airport. HKIA has an Annual passenger throughput of 44.4 million and sees nearly 800 aircraft take off and land every day. HKIA has been recognised as the world's best airport for the sixth time in seven years in the annual Skytrax survey.

The Reason

The Aviation Discovery Centre (ADC) was conceived to provide an interesting attraction that would draw traffic to the new Sky Plaza II. Few people were aware of the newly developed retail and F&B outlets there and the attractions at the ADC were seen as a way to draw traffic through the whole terminal. Along with the Interactive Exhibits provided by The Egg other attractions include an airport visitor centre, SkyDeck, CockPit and 4D Motion Ride. The overall brief was to provide exciting exhibits with an aviation theme.

The Benefits

The Egg designed and produced more than 10 games / animated information systems and installed them at the Aviation Discovery Centre. The exhibits provided were a balanced mix of being educational and just plain fun! As there was also some serious content the ADC could serve the dual purpose of informing visiting officials from China about the success of Hong Kong International Airport and being a place for children to play for a while before getting on a flight with their parents.
